Vray Fur not rendering in my scene but renders in a new one

I'm trying to add vray fur to a rug in my scene, but when I am rendering the scene it does not render the vray fur afterwards.

 

If I create a new object in a new scene and apply the modifer, the fur will render no problem. If I import the object in to my scene, the fur does not render.

 

Anyone have any idea why this is happening?
