Johsan
I get this shadows when I render my image. I work in 3d studio max and use VRay. I have Image Sampler: Adaptive Subdivision, Antialiasing filter: On Area. I use Vray physical Camera and Vray lights. What could be the problem? erickdt
Your GI setttings are too low. E
Victor Erthal
hi Johanna, Could you possibly post a screen grab of your go settings? could be that the settings are almost there, but interpolation is too low, or hemispherical subdivisions are too low. the best way to find out is to take a look. Johsan
Victor, Here are some settings. It´s from Render Setup and from the VRay Lights and VRay physical Camera.
AubreyM
Can't see the settings for your light cache but your hemispherical subdivisions are to low. Bump them up to 50-60. Light cache should have at least 1000 subdivisions. You could also bump up the global subdivisions multiplier to 2 or 3 and the DMC Min samples to 16. I usually use the Adaptive DMC sampler and Catmull-Rom but I have used Adaptive subdivision in some renders. Good Luck
Victor Erthal
Hi Johanna, Yes, the hemispherical subdivisions in your irradiance map are way to low. I agree with AubreyM that you should bump them up to the neighborhood of 50-60. For the interpoation samples right under it, a good start is to have that as half of the hemispherical subdivisions. If you are using a 64 bit system, it is a good idea to change the Dynamic memory limit (under the System tab) to about 4000 - this usually makes things render a bit faster, since it uses memory more efficiently (assuming you have at least 4gigs of ram) The lightcahe indeed needs to have at least 1000 samples and sometimes i even bump it up to 1400 or 1500 Another thing you might want to try out is to change your method of antialiasing. Adaptive subdivision is not recommended for the majority of cases in architectural rendering, Adaptive DMC being preferred. i do not see anythng wrong with the lights, per se, but with the settings above you might find that 20 subdivisions could be overkill. usually 16 does the job, and if you notice some noise, you can check "store with irradiance map" and that will use the go calculation to interpolate the light samples and clean up the solution a bit. Hope this helps.
