Do most of your jobs come from architects outsourcing, or from developers?

Well, I guess that woud be country dependant. Here in Greece, it would be something like 50/50, but now, due to the oncoming depression, a lot of small developers ceased building activities and my assignments come mostly from architectural offices.

It's tough, but I'd agree with Lambros and say it's close to 50/50. When I worked with a studio, they dealt almost exclusively with developers. However, as a freelancer I deal almost exclusively with architects. Working with a developer, you'll end up working with the architect anyways but the developer tends to play the middle man sometimes.

I'd say though that going after architects may be the better route, because even they need to pitch ideas to the developers and investors. So architects are the first line in the viz process.

Again 50 / 50 mate.

I try to avoid Architects at all costs.

They tend to be very finicky over minor details. It's not uncommon for me to have about 10 drafts before it's signed off as opposed to developers who are usually happy after the first.

Be sure to set the T&C to the architects prior to commencing any work!
