john2000
Hello, I am using edit mesh, soft selection to create some terrain and I would appreciate some assitance. I have attached a model that I have been working on where I have used a box and have attempted to use soft selection on the top face. My problem is that it renders with some extra faces that are not in the modelled terrain. I have also tried soft select on a plane object and have had no problems. but I need to extrude it to give it some solidity ( I need it to look like a cross section of ground). I could really do with some suggestions as to how to achieve this using this tool. Thankyou Edited October 24, 2011 by john2000
matthewgriswold
I have also tried soft select on a plane object and have had no problems. but I need to extrude it to give it some solidity ( I need it to look like a cross section of ground). Just flip your process: instead of starting from the box start from the plane, like you've stated. Select the outside Border and shift drag down once you are done manipulating the terrain. Otherwise with the box, try selecting the side faces that are giving you trouble and click "retriangulate". Though, that is an Editable Poly tool and I don't know the equivalent Editable Mesh button...
john2000
Perfect, shift drag on the border worked well. Thankyou Matt.
