Jeff Mottle
Interesting article with some parallels to our own industry. http://zackarias.com/for-photographers/philosophy/cheap-photographers-only-kill-themselves-not-the-industry/
RyderSK
In my opinion he's crying more than necessary. I always envied photography, since those lucky who manage to get clients (since there are so many of them now) get paid rather well for what I think is technically not that hard job (alright, call me ignorant, I think thanks to modern technology, even professional photography is rather easy..). They definitely get paid much better than any 3D artists. But yeah, the parallel works, they're just unhappy with same problem maybe, but at higher prices :- D and I am jealous of them. Even considered switching to photography, or incorporating it somehow to my own portfolio.
Jeff Mottle
I think it's equally as difficult to create amazing photography as it is amazing CG. I do agree that it's a lot easier and faster to create a mediocre photo than CG. You don't have to model and textures the entire world first before you take the photo. RyderSK
That's exactly how I meant it :- ). I have great respect and take huge inspiration from photography. But he wasn't talking about art photography either ;- ) I actually use your last sentence as a joke rather often to friends.
Ernest Burden III
You don't have to model and textures the entire world first before you take the photo. No, but changes are remarkable difficult. I'm pretty good at both, not sure which I prefer.
Jeff Mottle
No, but changes are remarkable difficult. LOL True! I'm glad I no longer do production rendering and to be honest I don't miss it a whole lot. I also do a lot of photography and MUCH prefer it to rendering. If I had it to do all over again I'd likely have gone into photography than CG. War Photojournalism if I did not have a wife and son. Just think, instead of CGarchitect this could have been CGphotography I guess that name doesn't work haha.
