Devin Johnston
Just save your rendering with and alpha channel and you can replace the background with anything you want.
alimarafia
Hi maxer, That's what i've been doing, Actually it's replacing the background that is my main issue ( with what ? ). I know that some here have a shot of the environment , what if we don't ? are there some generic solutions ( as creating a cloud effect in photoshop for instance to fake seeing the buildings through clouds) ? Devin Johnston
Most people are placing sky maps or images of the environment in the background, I'm not sure why that's confusing.
ronll
Maxer, I believe he is asking about bird's eye views, in which case the background is mostly land, not sky. It's one of the reasons I try to discourage aerial views with my clients, unless they want to go to the expense of having a professional aerial photo taken, which then kind of dictates the angle, lighting, and quality of the rendering. I usually try to crop them close to the model so as to minimize this problem. I suppose you can get away with using an image from Google Earth, but it is pretty low-res and I'm not really sure about the copyright issues in doing that. alimarafia
Thanks Ron,That is exactly what I was asking about... Well, it seems that a shot is the best solution but it is rare ( if not impossible) to have them here. I've tried google earth and i wasn"t convinced by the result...( as the google earth images are not on an angle that could correspond to an aerial view ) that's why I'm looking for more "generic" solutions...
