mtutaj
Looking for some ideas on how to create the LED Ticker display on the exterior of a building for an animation I am going to need to do. I know that I could do it in post, but woud like to stay away from that if possible. Using Max 5.1 still. Thanks, Mike
William Alexander
Mike, There are a couple ways Easiest would be to PS the verbage and apply to planes and animate the uvw coordinants, if possible, or visibility of the plane. Another would be to PS the verbage (cartoon like tweening) and gather up sequenced images in quicktime pro or what ever much better ani software you may have. SWISHmax would work. Normally .swf to web based but has an .avi export and controls for creating animations, fades ect between fixed images. Then use the avi file for the material/ mask however you set it up. Of course you can modeling it, but in the end it might be quicker to do it in post. Got SHAKE or AFTER EFFECTS? My thoughts, if of any use WDA
Frosty
I would make the sign in either A) ImageReady and an .mov b) Flash and export an .mov
mtutaj
I am going to edit the whole animation in Vegas Video, as far as I can tell, I wont be able to do it there, but I do have Combustion 2.1, But have not really used it yet. I just figured that I would start trying to figure out how I am going to accomplish it before I have to produce it next week. Mike
mwhite
If you go the post route or bring in the 'animation' from another source, Alchemy Mindworks has GIF construction set which will create a custom LED banner and it appears that you can export it as more than an animated GIf or seperate animation files. There also appears to be some other apps that I saw through google, but I used GIF construction set before and it worked well. Also, I created a still rendering with a large financial board a few months ago and the manufacturer of the board supplied me with the output files for their product. Who ever is making the board should be able to supply you with a series of stills which you could animate. I know the above does not address how to animate the board in MAX, but at least it hopefully helps on getting the actual image files for the animation, Good luck and please post the final project if you can, Mike White
William Alexander
Mike, Had to try my own advice, just for fun. PS to SWISHmax to max and out to .mov in 25 minutes including rendering time and messing with opacity maps for the individual bulb look. http://www.wdadesign.com/tyu.zip The SWISHmax has a free trial and is easy to learn, easier to use than Image ready imho.
