erkutacar
im modeling a car and no matter how many lines i add to prevent twisting in the fenders, it still makes a crease. dont laugh ur butts off but i made a stupid drawing using GIMP to illustrate the problem left shape its left view and right shape is top view when i pull the marked corner inwards in Y axis, it makes a crease as shown in the left image. ive even tried adding a curve where it makes the crease, it helped a little but not too much.. i can upload proper images of the model when i get home. but i want to understand the logic behind it, why would it make the crease there? im quite new to spline modeling. David Arbogast
The shape you're trying to make has only two vertices on the left side, but the right side (curved) has numerous vertices, so when Max triangulates the mesh it only has two available verts on the left side to connect all the verts on the right side. This might be fine until you try to deform the shape, which will produce creases in the direction you've indicated. As a workaround, you might try giving Max more verts on the left side to work with (select the left side segment and Divide it into as many segments as on the right side (determined by the shape's Interpolation value). erkutacar
no its not i couldnt draw proper perspective with the stupid GIMP here is a screenshot of all the viewports.. all the lines r curves. all the long lines have interpolation 40. erkutacar
i guess my mistake is using normal splines and adding surface modifier? maybe i should have used nurbs?
pailhead
this is somewhat abstract to explain, generally you should avoid these super sharp connections no matter what technique you use. A better way would be to split the half circle of the fender and have 5 points instead of 3, then make a better cage with more connections that are closer to being 90 deg. erkutacar
ive tried adding more connections but as long as that specific connection is 3 points it makes that.. it only doesnt do it when it has 4.
