Guest 2PMVisuals
Hi All, If i bring a .3ds object made in other software but with material names correctly set on the object, is there a way (plugin maybe?) to get Max to automatically apply materials from its material library to the .3ds object based on the names of the materials? This would save a lot of time each time a new or updated .3ds is brought in. Thanks. MB
datacrasher
You could use Deep Exploration from right hemisphere link:http://www.righthemisphere.com/products/dexp/ this will bring any material in from another software that you assign but to your question you cannot get max to automatically assign the material that i know of! Fernando Lino
in max there is an icon to do that, It's under materials, "update materials from library" both name materials have to have the same name. I use it all the time when I import stuff from SketchUp Fernando
notamondayfan
There was a very recent thread over at CGtalk in the 3Ds Max, Scripts forum which sounds very similar to what you are trying to do.
