unclefarkus
I'm looking at grad school and I really love computers, technology, modeling, rendering, editing, etc. But above all that, I really love architecture and want to continue on the design path towards eventual licensure. I feel like most programs can offer this to an extent, even if I have to pursue it somewhat on my own accord. I'd really like to join a program that pushes me in that direction however. I currently attend Clemson for undergrad and while computer applications aren't discouraged, most professors really don't have a grasp of how they work--so I'm often figuring things out on my own or with other students. I am currently looking Columbia and SCI-arc. I was wondering if anybody could suggest any 'under the radar' kinds of programs that really play up these methods of design. This seems to be the popular list according to archdaily: http://www.archdaily.com/92310/2011-united-states-best-architecture-schools/ Computer applications 1. Massachusetts Institute of Technology 2. Southern California Institute of Architecture 3. University of Michigan 4. Columbia University 5. Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University Thanks for any advice Edited November 1, 2011 by unclefarkus
John Dollus
I would add univ of IL at Champaign and work in the elec vis lab into your thesis. There is also Texas A&M Vis Lab viz.tamu.edu which has been a well respected program for tangent industries such as the game and film areas but isn't part of their M.Arch program afaik
