Olliie
Really nice render! But where it stands, alone at the table without a cord connecting it it feels a bit misplaced. Maybe if you put it on a kitchen counter or add a few surrounding objects, for example a coffee cup or some spread out beans, the render would look more appealing. How long did it take to render? I'm considering buying Octane to be used with a GTX 580 3GB so to have something to compare with would be nice! //Oliver
branskyj
Hi Olliie, good point regarding the location and missing cable. This is an old project (about 1 year ago) and to be honest I don't even think Octane supported dual card rendering at that time (well it did but there was annoying line on the rendered image). I can't remember how long it took to render but I did the rendering on one GTX480 2GB (I will change the description above). It was impressively fast considering the final size (3200x1920) and the DOF (done in Octane). By the way- I just received an e-mail from Refractive Software and apparently they will release a new version of Octane which will run inside 3DS Max (a plug-in). The current version is a standalone program. My point is- if you are using 3DS Max it could be beneficial to wait a little longer. I can't tell you how inpatient I am, Octane is just remarkable. Good luck and thanks for reviewing my render.
David Arbogast
Really nice work Julian. The Octane renderer looks really compelling and I'm looking forward to trying the 3ds Max version.
