zhong
Hi, i was doing some visualization project on interior project and trying to use a glare effect on my sky portal by enabling on camera effect but in the end all of my lighting were affected. so i was wondering how to use the glare effect only on the mr.sky portal without affecting the other lighting (or you can say without enabling the camera effect). and what's the use of mental ray light shader on the mrsky portal tab? thanks
Matt McDonald
I would just do it in post. The glare effect is resolution dependent so you're going to have to wait for a (potentially) very long render just to determine that you do or do not like the effect. In post you render once and then tweak the glare in photoshop. But to answer your question, I don't think you can apply the glare effect to lighting created by one type of light source. The glare shader is a lens shader and should be applied under the renderer tab under camera shaders. I typically think of the mental ray shader portion of the light to be intended to give you access to some of the old school mental ray stuff and I find it to work poorly.
