Tim Saunders
I have been using V-Ray's distributed rendering on several workstations in the office to render high resolution images. It has worked great, now I want to expand. I installed Max on a couple of our servers, but Backburner will not submit jobs to the servers (using Windows Server 2008) from my machine (using Win7). Does Backburner work between the two platforms? Thanks
Tommy L
I dont know the specific answer to your question, but BB doesnt control VRays DR. Is the 'you have to send one job via BB first' rule still in place?
Tim Saunders
I assume it is. The instruction shave not changed. I will try anyway, but I would assume if BB is not successful, V-ray won't be either.
Tommy L
I had a few issues when my farm was all xp64 and my workstations W7. My 'server' is W7 also, just nodes were xp. What OS are your nodes?
Tim Saunders
Server and nodes are W7. Those have worked great. Now hoping to add some of the servers in our rack to the farm. Those are the systems running server 2000.
Cyberstyle
On the server(s) have you enabled and updated the .net4 framerwork? On my servers the framework had to be switched on. I'm using Win Server 2008 and my workstation is Win7 x64.
Tim Saunders
Checked. .net4 framework is on and updated, but I cannot run backburner from my win7 machine and the servers with win server 2008. If there are any other suggestions, I would love to troubleshoot this issue. Thanks.
Cyberstyle
Have you tried running BB Manager and Server as administrator? (my BB doesn't work if I dont run manager as admin) Do you have any AV/Firewall software blocking the ports? Can you see the servers in the BB Monitor list? Are you using a fixed IP with the server and manager names? or are you using 'auto search'? Have you tried a clean install of Max/BB after running Win updates? (One of my servers needed this) I'm getting stumped for possible causes with just a general description. If you can provide some more detail into the issue it would be easier to try and help you resolve it.
