aristocratic3d
HI, I have searched all over the Bangladesh. the GTX580 3GB is not available. I found in one shop a GTX580 1.5GB. and one guy is telling that he can provide a GTX580 but it will be from Inno3D not Evga. SO I have two question, 1. how much is the difference between a 3GB and 1.5GB GTX580? 2. will it be a minus for me if I buy GTX580 3GB from Inno3D instead of EVGA? as I have almost no choice left. if its a minus then I will suffer but wait for the time when a this card from EVGA is available. Thanks in advance. Abdullah
AJLynn
There's not much difference between brands. Get the one that provides the best support in your area. As to the amount of memory - this is only a big deal if it's for running CUDA renderers. More memory means you can load larger scenes.
aristocratic3d
I will work with loads of trees and forest in the scene. but not GPU engines. Actually what making me buy these card is I saw in a list that if I have a Quadro 4000 I can work with more than 890 million triangle count per sec. But all of my friends in this forum suggested GTX580 3GB. so I am still getting that flexibility, handling and orbiting the scene more reliably. so does it make any difference that If I buy 3GB I can load two times heavy scene than what a 1.5GB card can do? and thanks for the help mate. CGA helps me to have breath.
AJLynn
You're very welcome. I wouldn't worry about memory on the video card so much if not using a GPU renderer. The 3GB version is good for those, and good for people who play very graphics intensive games - which are heavy on textures. Textures take up much more video card memory than wireframes. And the GTX580 handles a lot more triangles per second than the Quadro 4000 - but those numbers aren't really that meaningful. The main advantage of the Quadro is that it lets you load the Quadro plugin (AKA Maxtreme) in Max, which is a performance enhancer, but I still don't think it's worth the cost unless you have very specialized needs. RealSpace3D
EVGA's lifetime warranty is a huge plus, particularly if you are abusing the card by GPU rendering.
