lordraidis
So I'm pretty familiar with the various 3ds max environmental tools like "final glow", "vray lense effects" etc... But I'm wondering if there is there a way to recreate this effect in a "real" procedural way? I realize that I could probably render the animation first then figure out where the highlights actually are, and attach a lens flare as a post effect or something, but that approach seems far too clunky and time consuming. I've gotten this effect to work to some degree, but the glares always come out way too soft and I don't get any of those nice sharp "streaky" light rays like you see in the image above. Has anyone in here ever actually pulled this kind of effect off? Or know of a good solid method to make this happen without doing massive amounts of time-consuming post-work? I little help with this would be great... Thanks!!! Edited November 19, 2011 by lordraidis
Ismael
I do not know much about this but this may interest you: http://www.videocopilot.net/products/opticalflares/
lordraidis
Pretty cool. I might toy around with that some to see how well the glare automation works. I've been combing through the web looking for tutorials on this and the closest thing I could find was some mental ray stuff...
