jefferson
I don't really have any other experience besides ArchiCAD and Vectorworks, so an AutoDesk commentary is beyond me, but if you're liking the ver 6 demo, sit down and hold on. 8.1 is light years from that and 9 actually looks even better. Ace_Face
Autodesk are you listening? I think it's time to move on and use archicad, i have been an autodesk user for the last 10 years, and the newst relases of the autodesk architectural product line really didn't improve much my work flow, on the other hand i've got an old demo of relase 6.0 of archicad and really looks much better than ADT any comments? I used Autocad from it's beginning years in 1985, as well as CadKey and a proprietary main frame cad software at the same time. Later in 1987 through 1995 I used FastCad. From 1995 through 1998 I was using AutoCad versions 12 through 14. From 1999 to recently I was using ArchiCad and I personally found it to be the best for architecture as it was developed by Architects for Architects. Now I'm using ADT because my workplace uses it, and I find it lacking compared to the years of development ArchiCad has on it for the Virtual Building. Version 9 is certainly well ahead of ADT and includes some features that we have been wishing it had for a long time. It's funny to see how ADT is boasting what ArchiCad has been doing for years. stefkeB
I like the new version But it probably won't convince against the marketing from Autodesk (as usual). So I'm not sure if it will move many people from Autodesk-software to ArchiCAD.
only3d
as a user of both adt & archicad , although im no expert on neither, i have 2 say there's no real competition. archicad is a much better fit for architecture purposes (by far) and modeling seems so much easier since i started working with it. so if youre impressed with v 6 i guess v 9 will blow your mind. as i m using v 8 and thats already far better than 6. i definitly recommend it but as someone said before me.. autodesk has the stronger grip.
