paneli
Hello there, Recently my Quadro 4000 got toasted (caused my computer crash to BSOD, black screens and boot failures) and I replaced it with my old Quadro FX1700 (which is a charm but still barely handles AutoCAD 2012 and Max 2011) On the other hand I remamber when I got the Quadro 4000 eight months ago I didn't feel any boost in performance. I didn't feel it outperforms my old FX1700 by much. But I never had the chance to test Quadro 4000 under 3Ds Max 2012 with the new Nitrus system. Anyway the Quadro 4000 is fried and I am looking for a replacement from the Geforce series. I am looking for somthing to improve viewport, gpu rendering (via VrayRT or iRay) dont interests me. How about the Geforce 580 compared to the Quadro 4000?
Elliot
Hello Ilya Sorry about your Quadro 4000. I remember we exchanged notes on this card like 8 months ago. I have had my Quadro 4000 for nearly 8 months. I have several computers with various videocards. My un-scientific conclusion is that the high end video gamers cards do basically the same thing as the Quadro 4000 for 40% of the cost. The only advantage I see is with Solid Works. They have software enabled the video drivers to work a little bit better with Solid Works. Good Luck Elliot
paneli
Anyway I bought the GTX 580 already. Was a great mistake. In max 2012 it performed very good but in max 2011 it couldn't even run one of my projects. Worst investment ever since I don't do gpu render, I need viewport performance and appears geforce can't handle it at all. Quadro 4000 was the best until now (in max 2012 I felt it's power. In max 2011 all quadros perform the same (slow but much better then geforce can ever achieve. In heavy scenes)

paneli
i have the gtx and works awesome. In max 2012 yes the GTX works pretty well. In max 2011 doesn't even loads the heavy scenes just crashes max. In autocad 2011 and 2012 the GTX slow as hell. The Quadro works like a charm
RyderSK
It's more of a driver problem, since the GTX is much powerful choice.
