Justin Hunt
Here's a bit of a brain tickler, I have two files, in File A the sun's position is controled by three scene states. Which are also used for batch rendering. I want to bring those scene states into File B. At the moment I have to manually set up new scene states in file B by merging File A's sun into File B for each of the positions. A bit clumsy Does anyone know if its possible to automate this via maxscript or something else? jhv
alias_marks
I dont know about the scripting, but one suggestion: Animate the sun on keyframes 1 2 and 3, then xref your light scene into whatever file you want. Then you can also use the copy paste script to bring the sun into any file, and it will be keyframes accordingly. Then you can use the render frame sequence as a type of 'batch render' Look forward to hearing others suggestions too. Cheers, Mike
Justin Hunt
I had thought of keyframing the first sun and merging it in. However batch render doesn't always play nice with setting frames to render. Often it uses the wrong render settings. What I ended up doing was creating three dummies (one for each sun possition) and merging those into the new file and then aligning the sun to each dummy, saving a scene state for each. Thanks jhv
