Lupaz
Yes, I know, I'am poor I'm planning to by a P4 2.8 800Mhz Box 1Mb Prescott with an Asus P4V8X-X and 1Gb RAM 400Mhz. Because I mainly make stills and not animations, I was going to use the onboard video but, after reading some posts here, I'm not so sure about that. Is it ok to use Spectek memory? What do you think about the motherboard? there are so many! Is it worth to by an asus with intel chipset (P4P800)? Any other suggestion? Thanks!! Jape
I would not go for an onboard vid card, they are usually slow and maybe more important, come with only 64mb memory, in the end i think it''ll slow down your production, for, say 70$ more take one with 128mb memory, pherhaps an geforce 5200, wich will be much faster
Lupaz
Thanks Jaap for the tip. I thought video memory was used for animations only. What about openGL? Is it a must? Anyone else?
Crazy Homeless Guy
onboard video is a no-no. what apps are you planning on? some require more sophisticated cards than others.

Lupaz
Whau!! thanks Travis. Yes, I was planning to build it myself. Ofcourse prices will be a little higher here where I live, but those are great references. I'm most worry about the motherboard's chipset. I don't know if there's much difference between Sis and Intel (or the other). About the software... Max 6, Photoshop, ...etc.
Jason Matthews
I have an ASUS P4P800 deluxe and it is a great motherboard. Look up the type of RAM each motherboard takes (http://www.kingston.com). It is a must to go with DDR RAM. I have 2 Gigs and it doesn't stop for nothing. In all honosty, I bought a NVIDIA MX4000 for like $80 because my radeon 9800 pro took a dump. So I bought a temp. replacement. It works fine, as long as you don't want to hook up dual monitors. Good luck. -Jason
