Cyberstyle
I work on quite complex scenes and one thing that always bugs me is not having the ability to group and label my layers in the layer manager. I just worked on a project this week containing around 60 layers and all those could have been made into around 8 groups (buildings, landscape, roads, vehicles, people etc...) I'm quite particular on how I manage my scenes to make it easier while in production but often the basic nature of the layer manager just doesn't cut it. David Arbogast
You need the Outliner script (it is free: http://script.threesixty.nl/outliner/index.php/). Outliner provides a much more robust layering tool for Max including nested layering. So you can have a "Buildings" layer, and a bunch of sub-layers underneath. Should be just what you're looking for. I like it so much that I keep it docked on the right side of my screen.
Cyberstyle
Sorry for the VERY late reply. I didn't even know you'd posted to this. Yep, exactly what I needed. Thanks for that.
