ScottParris
Who would you guys model this? I'm thinking poly modeling, rotating and moving individual pieces. Could particle flow work? Painter? I'm kinda stumped guys??? Thanks - Scott
Cyberstyle
I'd prob. attack it starting with individual splines and a combination of modifiers like shell/taper/twist/scale etc.. It will give you more control and flexability to begin with compared to using poly modelling on a piece like this.
Peter M. Gruhn
Three or four separate objects one for each "layer" of leaves. Each layer to consist of one spline shape with 8 - 12 (or whatever, you count 'em) separate straight segments. Over time move the shape down and give it a rotate this way then that way. At the end of time select each segment and give them all a scale with transform origin (or whatever it's called) set to local. Then pop a GhostTrails modifier on the stack and increase the frame count for the trail from the minimum of 3 to your end time (think demo version may limit to 50 frames, or maybe that's only for particle sourced systems). Repeat for each layer with different twists and distances and segment counts. If it works, sling some money at the Ghosttrails guy, it's a good plugin.
