covono
Hi guys and thanks for helping. I'm sure few of you are working or used to work for a professional Arcvis company. I will appreciate if you can advise me on this subject... Assuming that I'm expecting 4-5 renders a day. Should I build a dedicated server for this task? If so, can you please specify what kind of hardware is recommended for it, (dual CPU motherboard with the best i7 processors?, is there anything better?) What is the recommended amount of RAM? Thank you again
AJLynn
A render node should be whatever amount of CPU makes sense to you from a price/performance perspective, with adequate RAM and nothing else expensive. For an example, go to the link in my signature and look at the Basic Render Node.
covono
Thanks AJLynn, You say its a matter of budget only?
AJLynn
Well, the more the budget, the more CPU power you can add. Render nodes are just CPUs, plus whatever else is needed to run the CPUs. But at a few renders a day I should think a single six-core CPU would be quite fast enough, and if your budget limits you you can get away with going to the CPU and motherboard used in the Midrange config on that page.
