AubreyM
I am thinking about getting a new video card. I was told that the GTX 580 is being replaced with the 590. Has anyone tried one of these yet. The cost is going to be around $700-$800 so I want to make sure it is all they claim before laying out that kind of cash. The reviews make it sound good (as long as you don't over clock it) and are generally positive. It looks to have some cool features as well. Any other suggestions would also find an attentive ear
Slinger
The GTX590 has been out since the GTX580. It is basically two GTX580s one graphics card.
AJLynn
What Chris said. And knowing that, I wouldn't do it unless you know you have good reason for something like that. It's really more of a specialty item for a certain set of high end gamers. For 3D apps, you might notice a speed improvement but it's probably not the most efficient allocation of resources. If it's for CUDA I wouldn't do it because even though it's a 3GB card, each of the two GPUs only gets 1.5GB so that's your limitation - a 3GB 580 (as a second card, with something else powering the display) makes more sense for CUDA. AubreyM
Thanks guys. Maybe I'll just go to a different computer guy and see about a 580.
