Hi,

this regarding my last post. (http://www.cgarchitect.com/vb/showthread.php?t=6962) I just cant make the wall texture look right. I've messed with the bump settings for a while and can't figure it out. I am trying to get a smooth stucco look. I like how the texture looks in the wall adj. to the pool. what am I doing wrong?

suggestions anyone???

thanks :)

Hi Carlos,

I really think it looks better with the bump to it. I would just reduce the indirect bump as suggested, and even reduce the bump map to a lower multiplier (default 30, try 10). As for the glass, try adding some specular highlights, and turn the color to a medium white in the color swatch. I am also noticing some green reflecting from the grass on to the wall. Use the advanced override and change the reflectance value of the grass to .1 or 0. Good luck.

Would you mind posting the model so I could download it and help you more?

Hi Saturn,

I played with that advanced override thing and it worked like a charm. Im still playing arround with the whole scene. and no, i dont mind sharing the model but its 5mb, isnt that too large to post??? why dont you give me your email and I can mail it to you instead. another thing, I dont quite know what you mean about the glass and the specular highlights, you also mentioned adding a falloff map. doesnt glass reflect indefinetly? I'd appreciate you writing a little more on this. all this has been very usefull! :)

Hey Carlos, here is my email.

In terms of the specular highlights, in the material editor for the glass material, there is the basic parameters that you set up for the material. You can adjust the ambient, diffuse, and specular. In the specular slot, make sure the color is a medium white color, not too bright, not too dark. You can also adjust the specular highlights by playing with the specular level and the glossiness. Adjust it so that it looks like glass. Try 250 for level and 80 for the glossiness. Try 245,245,245 for the color of the specular. This or course is just a thought. I can give you better advice once I see the file.

Ignore what I said about the falloff. Yes glass has an infinite falloff, but you (the person) can only see a certain distance. Since you do not have a scene that the building sits in, falloff would be pointless, especially from this perspective.

Just my opinion.
