chad_mccormick
Hello everyone. It seems like a lot of people (Me included) are having problems getting grass to look like, well, grass as opposed to a green colored carpet. I have been playing around with the bump settings but I haven't quite found the right one. Which swatch do you use? How big do you make your swatch? Do you change the color of it? What number do you use for the amount? Example photos would be great! I saw this picture on here and I can't seem to find the thread again. But he done a great job with the grass. I would like to find the owner of this picture and see what he used. Jonathan
Could be wrong Chad but it could be 3D grass.
chad_mccormick
Could be wrong Chad but it could be 3D grass. Where in the world would I get my hands on some of that? Wouldn't that make the file lag unbearably bad on a normal computer? I tried a couple of different things. I even tried to change the topography around the foundation to make it look like the grass is taller in places, but it didn't look that good. Jonathan
in 3DS Max 3D grass is a fairly standard procedure. Its basically instanced geometry scattered millions of times so as not to eat too much system resources, even then it is best to have some RAM behind you. Im not a Revit user but I doubt you can acheive this without Max.

Chris MacDonald
Yeah, 3d grass has become the norm within 3ds max these days. I'm assuming Revit doesn't support displacement as that would be the other alternative to realistic grass.
