mikebart
Studio/Institution: PersonalGenre: Residential InteriorSoftware: 3ds max, Mental RayDescription: Hi, this is my first real attempt at making some pre-vis, i'd really appreciate any crits and advice, I still need to work on textures and model more objects to fill the scene a bit more. Thanks in advance.
Colour1
Good effort on your first visual, your on the right tracks but there are areas in which you need to work on to get that Photo-realism you are after, such as: Textures - Each texture seems to glossy and reflective, such as the floor which amost looks like a mirror or a wet floor (Try a tiled floor of some kind rather than a glossy plane. There seems to be no bump maps on any of the textures especially the tiled wall and bath tub... Lighting - The lighting is getting there but still lacking that flair of realism...Iv not really used Mental Ray in a long time so im a little rusty but there are easy ways to get realism from this render. You could try and put a window within the room to give it that daylight it needs and also bringing it to life. (Use target directional lighting through window) Objects - Firstly lose the tea pots, bad modelling technique is using preset models and it seems to me that the toilet is a little high from the ground... Maybe also add some water within the tub and towels on floor ect, making the visual come to life.. Good start though.. Regards David
mikebart
thanks alot for the reply David, ill definitly work those things. Im not sure whats going on with the bump on the brick tiles, I've use a normal map but it seems to be getting blown out since i turned on GI, Ill have a play around with that, maybe tone down the GI. Thanks again!
