3ds Max Problem...

Hi! I just started using this website as a forum resource so hopefully you all can help me out!

Ok so I am working on updating an old model at work. I believe it was drawn in Viz, and when I open it up in MAX I can't seem to get it to do anything. Not knowing how Viz works, I don't understand the way it was drawn. I would like to select different components by material type and convert to Editable Poly's but this does not seem to work (it gives me a Turn To Poly Modifier, which does nothing). I've also tried exporting to Sketchup just to get it in a form that I can than re-import into MAX so I can work with it and I've exported everything from a DWG to a .3ds and beyond...

Is there anyone out there with Viz to MAX experience that can help me!?

If you the convert down does not work how about the edit poly from the modifier stack? It was probably draw because in them days VIZ was the only thing about in 3d. Seems like the file is too old and max does not like it for some reason if you cannot rotate it or do anything.

I would wait for Crazy Homeless Guy chimes in because he meant to know about Viz

Have not met Crazy Homeless Guy yet, but hopefully he will show his face! I will try the edit poly later this afternoon and post how that goes...I can rotate the model and move around it, I just cant change any of the properties (materials, size, layers) of the currrent components. Also i'm not sure if calling them components is the correct terminology, but it's what I would liken to a block in AutoCAD or a component in Sketchup...the only difference is that I can't explode them or modify them in any way...Thank you for replying...Hopefully more people will chime in. No. We had to dig around archive files to find this model...They were drawn between 1998 and 2000. They automatically show up as a MAX scene. But I am 100% positive that they were not drawn in MAX, also there are no accompanying drawings such as AutoCAD or anything. So if somehow the model is linked I would have no idea how to determine that or even where to find the files...
