CAD
Can anyone help me on how to improve the AA in Sketchup? Thanks
STRAT
the AA looks fine and smooth to me. i think you're talking about the sketchiness feel to it, not the AA. thats changed here - view > preferences > edges properties
CAD
Yhanks for the reply Strat. I looked it up but it has nothing to do with AA. If you notice, some lines especially those near the horizon level still appears to be too jagged.

GaryR50
Hey, now. If someone has a drinking problem, let's not try to blame it on SketchUp. Gary
CAD
Hey, now. If someone has a drinking problem, let's not try to blame it on SketchUp. Gary he he he... sorry, I don't drink... and I don't blame Sketchup. Sketchup is a GREAT SOFTWARE! Its just that I'm not that satisfied with what I see. But if you guys don't find anything wrong, then I rest my case.
STRAT
aye, thats literally one of Sketchup's characteristics. you'll soon get used to it.
Craig Ramsay
Thet AA doesn't look too good to me, the lines look very jaggy. Try rendering out your image larger and make sure you tick the AA box in the export options.
Cesar R
There is an AA option when you to export 2D graphic. On the save window click on options its righ by the save button.
chuck
I agree sketchup's AA needs a bit of improvement. Some of the people that hang out on the sketchup site recommend rendering the image twice the size you want with AA off, then bringing it into PS and resizing it, with image resampling-bicubic filtering. It seems PS is better at it than sketchup... chuck
CAD
Thanks for reply guys. I think the AA tick box is only accesible in v4. I used v1.31 on the image above. Now I'm trying out v4. One last thing. Is there any way I can improve the smoothness of curved lines of imported DWG files to Sketchup? Notice those transom windows? They were not supposed to be pointed. It should be smooth. I use AutoCAD to model my scene then move it Sketchup. Any help will be much appreciated. Thanks for the ideas and comments. Ferrari_Italy
thats changed here - view > preferences > edges properties No view > preferences > edges properties for me! Is that because I'm using the 8hr version 4.0 or has it moved?
archFX
CAD... if you are using 4.0 you can simply select the arc or circle and then right click to open the "entity info" dialogue box... in this dialogue, change the number of segments in the arc or circle. Unfortunately it does allow you change the number of segments once the face is pushed/pulled. Also, if you are modeling in autocad you can change the number of segments before importing to skecthup... good luck... take care... ps. i would just like to echo everyone else's sentiments about SketchUp... excellent design tool! The sketchyness is refreshing!
