TomA
How do you make a material shiny without directly reflecting it's environment? A shiny copper for instance.
Corey Beaulieu
Try using the exit color. For materials like copper if you (not exactly, but close) match the diffuse color and the exit color you can usually get a satifactory balance between shiny and environmental reflection. TomA
Exit colour?
Corey Beaulieu
Yes. So in the reflection area of a standard Vray material is a setting for exit color. Once the reflections reach max depth it returns this color. If you set the reflection color to he diffuse roughly, then the exit color roughly the same as well, and lower the max depth, objects will appear from your environment, but all have the same color tone. Check this out: http://www.aversis.be/tutorials/vray/vray_basic_material_settings_01.htm my earlier statement was not a complete answer on how to create the material you are looking for. This should help.
