Roodogg
Hello everyone. I have been commissioned to produce my first 3ds Max, Vray walk-through. It is a little daunting but even more so when I realised the rendering implications for the standard I wish to reach. We will need to render approx 10,000 frames @ approx 10 mins per frame (Based on 1x Intel Quad Q6600 2.4GHz / 8GB RAM). On two machines, that works out at 35 days. We will have approx one week maximum set aside for rendering. I am on a tight budget and am struggling to fathom the most cost effective way of rendering. Whether it be buying two new super workstations to compliment our current 2 Quad core machines or using a render farm, or a combination of both. Any suggestions for this situ would be very welcome - I am still new to this industry professionally
AJLynn
Contact some render services to see if they can do your job and what it would cost. Compare to the cost of some new hardware, and consider whether you're going to do more jobs in the future that will spread out the cost of the new hardware. Remember that render nodes don't need the same specs as workstations, e.g. in the high end video card area. You can see an example of a render node spec on the page my signature links to.
