Microstation to Max Origin Problems

What is the best, simplest and easiest way to export/import/reference dwg files between Microstation and Max so that the origins align perfectly?

I can't change the Microstation origins because they are set up for the project I'm working on, and the Max model is already at an advanced stage.

Cheers

I don't think there is an option, I have the same problem with all Autocad files, the further they are away from the origin the more corrupt the lines become.

I dont think it has been solved, and I don't know why either it's been around for a long time now.

Short of just moving everything to 0,0,0 in MS, and doing it every time.

I hope somebody has a solution, because it is a problem that should be solved from Autodesk and MS side.

I brought it up with a Autodesk and they said, and I quote " not our problem".

You probably have this sorted. But What I do is save a copy of the drawing. Pick a point on the drawing. Get the coordinates. Shift the drawing to 0,0 from this point.

Then when the original microstation drawing changes. Save a copy again and use the coordinates of the move point so you can shift it to 0,0. That way you drawing is always in the same position when you move it.

Good idea Dan.

Another solution is to move a reference file to the correct origin, and when you want to load a different file, copy and replace the previous reference.

Philip Kelly - it is very frustrating, but I guess they aren't keen to solve the issue because Autodesk will want to encourage people to buy Autocad rather than use Microstation.

If you use Autocad as your main 2D/3D drawing/modelling package you can directly reference your files into Max and update simply and easily as you go along, whereas with Microstation you have to first export to .dwg, which is a pain to say the least.
