flaviogarcia
Hello, this is my first post I need some help with this, I have a scene with a room and a vray light coming through a window. The room has a bar/desk. But when I render the scene there's this weird light underneath said bar/desk, like if light was filtering through. The desk is embedded to the wall, so there's supposed to be a shadow there. Here are the settings I'm using
matthewhoworko
Hi Flavio, The problem is your Irradiance map settings, they are too low. Here is a great tutorial which can explain all this very well: http://renderstuff.com/irradiance-map-vray-best-settings-cg-tutorial/ Hopefully this helps! Ricardo Eloy
As a matter of fact, all your GI settings are extremely low. You won't get anything good using 200 subdivs on LightCache nor with Very Low preset on IrrMap. Not to mention that using Adaptive Subdivision ain't helping either. flaviogarcia
Thanks Matt, this was really helpful! What I did was increasing the irradiance map passes along with some tweaks in the parameters. This increased the render time drastically, but it's good to know what was the problem and I'll wait for the final render to apply the settings. This was the result. flaviogarcia
Increasing light cache subdivs to 1000 also helped. It seems I was trying to get realistic results out of settings for drafting. Thanks!
matthewgriswold
If you want to try and get away with low GI settings, try Enabling the Light Cache "Retrace Threshold". Should compensate for light leaks related to draft GI Settings. Light Cache can't handle the contrast between the outside(lots of light) + inside(lack of light), with low subdivisions...
