sixthlaw
Hey guys, Just needed a bit of help with some client pricing. I am reasonably new to the industry and would really love some help on what you guys would recommend as a good pricing model and some of the concerns I should take into account. Current client is looking at 2 exterior renders and 1 interior.
datacrasher
i charge about £30 or $50 an hour depending how long it will take you and what Object he/she needs modeled. Render does not take that long so i never charge for a render
CJI
Tony, I was looking at your website. Amazed that you include your model file and textures in the basic pricing. Also, how quick are your renders? as I personally find it strange not to include render time or do you recoup that cost from somewhere else? These things clearly work for you so its obviously not a problem, i'm just curious, we all price slightly differently.
marius e
Tony, I dont get your website? Not trying to be an @rse, just nothing there, atleast from what I can see.
datacrasher
Curtis I don't know how long render are they are different in 3ds max whether your using metal ray global illumination final gather or using the scan-line render. it all depend on what they clients wants you to render in. as i freelance in AEC Architectural, engineering, and construction i set my own prices as long as i get the work and the clients can afford my prices then it does not really matter ------------------------------------------------------------ marius i don't really care in what you're own opinion of my website is you're not my client and i don't have thousand of hours to build a website when i am a one man band. like you're site is any better who are you to criticize my website. there is a lot on my website and it's still under constitution. I have a life outside the world of 3d from a person dealing with aspergers symptoms i think it's okay for what i have done. if i had the money then i would let a professonal do it but i don't so i did it myself Edited March 15, 2012 by datacrasher
marius e
Tony as mentioned, im not trying to be an @rse, but all I can see on the site is a 3 second animation and menu bars on the left. Thats why I said "atleast from what I can see". Am I missing something? I cant see any work done, just wanted to have a look around. Think you are taking it the wrong way, sorry. CJI
Thanks for answerintg my questions Tony. I should have been more specific as of course every job is different. I just did a job where the render time was 3 - 4 times longer than i thought it would be. I think i may have made mistake in a material somewhere, damn those glossies. Thats the key isn't it, getting clients and keeping them. Whatever pricing structure works for you, thats the way i see it.

datacrasher
Curtis as long as you get you're models right, you have the right texture and the correctly lighting and you're clients like you're work then it should not matter don't forget a client can change his/her mind at any time don't forget you can always throw you're opinions at a client he/she mite not always agree but it's worth a try
