ABK
Hi everyone, I'm attempting to create a velvet carpet similar to the one in this image: http://www.zimbio.com/pictures/-dv1hqypbIn/BAFTA+Awards+Red+Carpet/KCeq4YZZP9X/Jessica+Alba I'm using 3DS Max with vray. Any tips or hints from anyone? Antony
erickdt
I would do a composite texture for the diffuse map that would consist of a layer of noise, a layer of speckle and a layer of custom "vacuum pattern" painted in Photoshop. I'd probably blend them in multiply mode. And then make a bump map that's a blend of the speckle and noise... E
Ricardo Eloy
You could also use a Mix map in the diffuse slot, mixing the two different shades of red (or whatever color you want) using a grayscale map in the Mix Amount slot. Works really smooth and is pretty easy to tweek.
