Modelling hip ridge tiles - How??

I must assume that you do NOT want to model each tile individually. If that's the case than what I usually do is create a arch that wraps the corner just right and then extrude that the length of the ridge. Then create a material that is about 5-6 different shaded tiles long and map that to the extruded piece. You could use a bump map too and the effect is pretty good except when getting up close.
