Devin Johnston
I've got a project coming up that needs motion tracking work and I'm trying to decide which piece of software to purchase. I'm looking at SynthEyes and PFMatchit, while I've used SynthEyes before somewhat successfully on small tests I'm not sure if it's the best option. This project is a basic orbit around the site type of shot with maybe some zooming but nothing has been decided yet. Out of these two packages I'm looking for the one that will be the easiest to use and hopefully can do most of the tracking work automatically. Any suggestions would be nice. John Dollus
Sytheyes does a great job and has good support. regardless of which software, maintaining a consistent focal length will make your life much easier. Also, if they are dead set on a turntable (ick), try and orchestrate the production so you can break it up into a few segments seperated by some other images or info at least. it'll give you a buffer for editing flexibility in case some of the tracking points do not maintain visibility throughout the entire orbit (highly likely).
