Sketchrender
Hi I have been in the business now for 10 Years. Work at it everyday, great to have the work. But I only use about 40% of the tools in max. I am on subscription and feel I am not getting my monies worth from the package. I don't use the slate, particles, or mr because I use vray always have. So is there training on line to purchase that goes into the latest updates. I have the premium suite so I have a lot of software but really only use max and autocad. It worked out cheaper believe it or not. Advise would be appreciated. Thank you Phil

Scott Schroeder
Why use slate? For anything more than a basic scene, it gets far too complicated to follow your materials. I was a long time basic editor user and when I went to slate I thought it was awesome. That is until I had to move into a more complicated interior scene with more than 10-15 materials. I'm back to the basic editor again. Besides, if you already know how to make materials using the compact (basic editor) slate is a no brainier. All you do is connect the nodes together. The help file that comes with Max is all you need for slate. There's no need to spend money for that if you are already well versed with materials in general. That being said, Digital Tutors has some pretty good tutorials covering all aspects of Max: http://www.digitaltutors.com/training/3ds_max-tutorials Here's one for Slate: http://www.digitaltutors.com/11/training.php?vid=22659&autoplay=
