davetoth
Hello! My name is Dave and I just registered on this forum, because I have a big doubt with V-Ray (Build 1.50.SP4) rendering. Yesterday I created and object in 3dsMax 2010, UVW mapped it and then I assigned it a Multi/Sub material containing V-Ray materials, and I realised that there is always some strange sharp shadow under the actual object. When I create other objects, the shadow is not here. I think it is not a material problem because I was already trying to fix it some 6 hours without a capable result . So the problem is, that the scene is lighted by two V-Ray plane lights, one from the left and one from above the camera of actual view. But the shadow is being created right under the object, like it is mirrored to the background plane. I also tried to edit the material of background plane, but still stuck there. There is no skylight. I attached an image descripting the issue. I rendered the actual object with a simple box attached to it with its material (left) and a separated box (right). Notice the sharp dark shadow under the object in center. As you can see there is a part of the "normal" blurred V-Ray shadow but + some sharp one, looks like from top view. Thank you very much for any help or advice.
Alyosha
do you have ambient occlusion on? What happens if you place other objects as close to the ground as the center one?
davetoth
do you have ambient occlusion on? What happens if you place other objects as close to the ground as the center one? Hello Alyosha! I have "Ambient Occlusion" unchecked. When I enable it, the shadow just grows a little, but it is still as sharp as before.
