CEJ1976
Hi, Does anyone know what I need to do to make my backburner servers automatically startup when I turn on my render nodes? Currently I remote desktop into each one and start them up manually, which obviously takes a few minutes to do. Is there a quicker way? Thanks. erickdt
You need to install backburner as a service on those machines. If you search google you should pretty quickly find a tutorial on how to do it. Basically, you go into command prompt, type in "cmd C:\Program Files (x86)\Autodesk\Backburner". Then the backburner command prompt will come up and you then type "serversvc -i" and hit enter. The first time you might need to manually start the service from the services menu in windows but after that it ought to startup on startup everytime. A quick note: this is hit or miss with MAX 2012. Despite numerous attempts to set this up here at work it has never worked corrrectly. This is a known bug with MAX/backburner 2012... E

E Sigh --> I've just spent a few late nights getting backburner 2012 out of every machine + renderboxes (we do have a few) and backburner 2008 back on. erickdt
Hi Fooch, did installing BB 2008 solve this issue? If so, I'm curious to know the steps you went through to completely remove BB 2012 and install 2008. I've tried this in the past with no success. Although i did have to make sure I uninstall backburner 2012 before installing service pack 2 , etc + plugins.. Then reinstall backburner (which you can copy it out from the old software cds.. hunt for it inside) Long process...... not keen to ever do it again. But yes, it works and max 2012 seems to work with 2008 backburner.
