markschlanser
Does anyone here use Arroway textures? I am in a bind for time and these look good, but how are they to use?
adanchasse
I've purchased their Wood Volumes 1&2 and Concrete 1. All I have to say is they are top notch and think they are defiantly worth the purchase. Super high-res as well compared to other texture packages I've purchased. jfgiroux
All I can say is that these are the best textures you will ever find on the web. The quality is equal to none. I use them all the time and they are a real timesaver, plus, it makes your work look great. You can now even download 3dsmax/Vray materials for some packs (ex: wood volume one). IMO it"s a must have. plastic
The wood ones are great, but I find the concrete and tiles are looking somewhat artificial, a bit like procedural textures. I prefer the cgtextures ones for concrete (it doesn't always need to be tileable).
markschlanser
Thanks Jean and Marc. I found the same on the wood, but started tweaking the concrete maps to try and get them to pop a little. One problem I am having is: I have a Cube with a stone texture applied and want the corners to appear to be real stone, not just a map cutting clean on the corners. I have read many tutorials on Vraydisplacement and the Vray displacement Mod and for the life of me can't figure out to to displace it with a nice round edge. I have inverted the map to pull it inwards so I don't get the small gap at the edges, but that didn't work either. Any tips?
Roodogg
Use the VrayDisplacement modifier and check 'keep continuity' (or at least its something like that). This joins up gaps on edges
mi75
I have all except 2 and I love them. They do need to be set up correctly for the best look. There good to deal with too. My first lot I ordered got lost in the mail and they sent me another set even though I had no proof it got lost.
RyderSK
Lot of people say they can look artificial, but that's because they don't understand them and how they work. It's imposssible to get specular and bump channels like they do. Their textures look complete only after the material is set-up right (which they now offer to download on their page! amazing). There are no better texture anywhere.
mi75
(which they now offer to download on their page! amazing). I had a look on their site and I can't find any download for settings. Are you talking about the PDF you get with the textures? Okay I found the Download........... NICE!..... Time to update my Matlibs But they only have it for Wood Vol 1 or am I missing something? Edited June 26, 2012 by mi75 Because I'm blind.
AubreyM
Where was it? I tried to find it too, maybe I was looking in the wrong place.
mi75
If you go to "Wood Vol 1" contents. Down the bottom where they have FREE DOWNLOADS there's a download link called wood-1_matlib_3dsmax-vray_preview.rar This is the only one I could find with a matlib, unless I'm blind. jfgiroux
Not sure what you are looking for, but if you're looking for the vray mats, they seem to be available only for the wood volume 1 to 3.
mi75
Yeah I was hoping they might available for all the others too, but as you said it seems to be only the wood.
