rfothergill
Hi all, I'm slowly teaching myself Maya & VRay but have a basic problem I can't work out. My model has a carpet material (jpg) with no reflection etc, but when I render the colour of the carpet is being reflected onto the ceiling, giving a completely unrealistic look. It goes the same with or without lights, so I assume it's a material or GI setting - any idea how I an stop the colour reflecting? I've been playing with the settings for days and have even purchased the Evermotion models for help but no luck. A point in the right direction would be much appreciated! Thanks in advance
Corey Beaulieu
Hi Rick, In Max at least, and I'm sure it's the same for Maya, there is a GIOverrideMTL in Vray Materials. this allows you to set a base material for your carpet map, but tell vary to read the GI as if it is another material. In the GI slot I usual put either the wall and ceiling material or just a plain white. Once setup just re-apply the override material to your carpet and renew. It should look much brighter. Spot3d.com seems to be down today, or just slow, but I'm sure there is an example of this on the site once it's back up.
