Graphite
Hey all; Was curious; can 3ds Max be used to simulate catastrophic failures in structural elements of a product? (IE Simulate a car crash)
Scott Schroeder
Yes and no. Yes in a sense that you could use reactor, or physics plug-in, to help simulate things. No in the sense that it won't be 100% physically accurate, at least if you use reactor.
Ernest Burden III
Have a look at Cinema4D. The physics engine is quite good, and has been updated in recent versions. I have had great fun creating and then crashing stacks of things, etc. I don't know if Max has real-world units now or not, but C4D does.
Sindala
Cinema 4d's dynamics are really good. You can find some great tutorials on http://greyscalegorilla.com this one is a lot of fun: http://greyscalegorilla.com/blog/2012/03/cinema-4d-dynamics-connector-series-tank-treads/
