mlegs
Hi.. Is it possible to separate the objects's polygons for assigning to different textures? Example: I have a cube (editable poly), and would like to split it in 2 because i want 2 different textures on it. How can I do this? Thx
Cjmcphail
In an edit poly mode, select the polys you want to have a different material and change the material ID to 2. then use a multi sub material and have 2 materials in it (each of these materials will look for the material ID set in the previous step). Assign this material to you object and Bam, your done,
mlegs
Thank you for the answer. However, i didn't quite understood what do you mean by "multi sub material" ... is this an option somewhere? I can see it worked by selecting the polygons and in materials editor clicked on "apply material to selection" something like that under the window with6 spheres.. I would like to know your way, too Edited April 30, 2012 by mlegs
Corey Beaulieu
The same way as you might choose an Arch&Design Material or VrayMtl (depending on your render engine) Choose a Standard>>Multi-Sub. This material usually defaults to have 10 material slots but you can change it to 2 or only use what you need. From here just either link the materials you have created to the proper numer or create new materials in the slots.
