Please note - this is work in progress! I have details still to add (and I know... some better photos of my brothers kids to composite!) But I thought I would get some criticism from you experts along the way! Thanks for viewing!
Hao La
I'd suggest you to make your composition straight. There is nothing interesting in the diagonal to have the camera slanted like that.
Roodogg
Thanks for the input! The reason I am doing this project is purely R&D so doing a lot of messing around in Photoshop. I suppose I got carried away.
RyderSK
I agree with Hao, image is nice, but the falling perspective is not.
Andrew_Ryan
Very nice. My only crits would be that the burnt out area is just a little too burnt out and the light on the backroom wall looks a bit photoshopped in.
Roodogg
Thanks Andrew. Among other things, I have since randomized the light pattens in the corridor and balanced the ambient/sun light which should address your crits.. Chugging away on a 4 year old intel... currently rendering the reverse view of the kitchen... it might be a while. Shall post when done.
Tommy L
NIce work! Love the design, lighting and materials. You'll have a cracking portfolio if all your work is like this. Good job comping the girl as well. And if you like the slope, keep it. It doesnt add much but it doesnt really take anything away either.
Andrew_Ryan
One other question, did the name come from the cartoon?!
Roodogg
Haha. Yes, the inspiration was the cartoon! Tom, thanks very much for your encouragement. This is one perspective of many of this interior space. Working on the kitchen area currently. Just want to put together some stonking images so I can confidently apply for some work in a studio!! Andrew_Ryan
I can't see a reason why you couldn't get work in a studio. The work on your site is good and this image is great. Maybe try ticking 'clamp output' in the colour mapping dialogue. It might help the slight pixelation around the ceiling lights.
Roodogg
I have got clamp output ticked, but not sub-pixel mapping... I think it's something to do with the AA settings... DMC is 3/6 and the filter is blackman... To be honest I don't really see the point in a filter most of the time. Also the work on the site is mostly my brother's while I was messing about and just learning. I've used some of those to apply to studios and not had a great response... thus spending a couple of weeks doing some nice pieces. Just posted the kitchen shot Btw. Andrew_Ryan
Filters can be nice but can't be used for animations. I usually go with catmull-rom or mitchell-netravali for stills.
anon
In fact i decided I like the slope. It works with the playfulness of the kids.
