security softare for folders

is there any software to assign passwords and security to folders in windows?

sort of when you protect an office doument or something.

.....are you using windows? why not just set up permissions and such on the folders. you can control who has access to folders by the persons user name.

Just a reminder that you need NTFS to be able to do that. You can also encrypt files/folders starting with XP.

 

Some linux boots will be able to see the files even with permission or encryption set, but they won't have access to the files.
