Inspiration from this came from the Bergman Werntoft tutorial courtesy of Reinaldo Handaya on the homepage, especially the breakfast bar, but the general architecture is quite different! Ps. If anybody can explain how to get rid of the awful pixelation on the induction hob without rendering any bigger (I only have one old PC), I would be very appreciative. Thanks. Currently - (DMC 3/6, filter blackman / clamp output on / subpixel map off).
aaronmolina
Hey, Peter. You have a nice image so far. For the pixelation maybe try to use a good filter, like Mitchell-Netravali (smooth) or Catmull-Rom (sharp) AND/OR try tweaking Adaptive DMC settings and lowering noise threshold. I think you should lower the reflection on the fridge and next to the stoveand add an object on top of the cabinets next to the cieling. Also, maybe messy something up, like some bread crumbs on the cutting board with a scratch or two on the board itself (I know all mine have that); and the picture on the right corner looks like it was drawn by a child. Usually a child's picture woud have a taer or at least some wrinkles on the page. Also, it looks like it was done in crayon, and I remember as a kid I would feel the blank paper and the paper with the crayon, the crayon had some depth to it and it had a slight shine, so I would add a slight bump and spec map. I hope that helps, and I can't wait to see this finished!!
Roodogg
Genuinely helpful hints Aaron - thanks. I have got knife marks on the board bump map but they're obv not showng from here. Will add some staining perhaps too. And the comments on the child's picture make sense... little things like that could really bring it to life. So thanks! Hao La
Is that a texture map you used on the oven top? If yes then maybe that texture map's size is too small. That's why it's pixelate, no matter how big you render this image or how high the DMC setting is. I would suggest create a bigger map for it or use VrayDistanceTex instead. Roodogg
Thanks Hao. The oventop is all geometry, it is just inadequate anti-aliasing methods and the low resolution of the render that has caused the pixelation I think! I have put this project on hold until I have received my new machine. This image took over 5 hours to render (1024px wide) on my current machine (Core 2 Quad 2.4GHz) and is no where near the quality I need to put together my showreel. I am awaiting delivery of an i7 3930k @ 4.5GHz machine in approx 2 weeks. Updated images and more to come then!!!
