neyes_ice
Hi Guys, need help on a project, how can I make my brushed stainless material to look more like the actual photo below? I have tried material presets from archshaders and sigershaders but none of them does the job, the attached render is from sigershaders but i tweaked it a little bit. I have looked around so many tutorials to achieve the desired look but its still not close enough. Let me know for suggestions, any would do, staight from 3dmax and vray or photoshop. Thank you for your time.
DavidRees
anisotropic reflection, rotate 90 degrees if you want. For a better effect, unwrap your model and put a 'scratch' map in the reflect + bump slots.
John Dollus
what you have is fine - just adjust the levels in post.
RyderSK
One of the secrets is warped 3D model, make it more higpoly and put noise modifier, you can also put additional bump map for this (apart from scratch bump). Other is, anisotrophy. And yeah, the Sigger shaders are nothing special.
salvador
Agreed. Use Ward instead of Blinn or the others and play with the anisotropy level and rotation; also, adjust your reflection value.
neyes_ice
Thank you very much for the input guys, The image got cut, it is a ward material with a anisotropic rotation of 90, I could live with the result if it was my personal project but the client wants it to be perfect. Will try Juraj's suggestion. thanks.
johannes
Because of the drain, the bottom bit is not flat. Bending it a bit could help to get more realistic reflections.
salvador
Just a thought. In the actual photo there seems to be a white very diffuse light above and the sink appears in parts almost white. Could it be that preventing it from looking like your rendered one? Can you get more photos of the piece just to compare?
