skogskalle
hi guys! Id like to hear your comments on this one... deadline is friday morning so Ill probably have time to change some stuff before then if needed.... not going for photorealism as you can see... partly because I dont have enough time, and partly because I dont know if I have the skills for it yet =) .... the goal is just to make a nice looking image... modelled (sp?) (im tired) in max4.2 and rendered with VrayFree. colors changed in PS to give it a slightly warmer feel.... so... crits n comments please! //Kalle
skogskalle
heres another version.... much brighter and crispier... better or worse?
Tim Nelson
I think thats pretty good! I would increases the AA rates in Vray though to get rid of those jaggy lines. I like the people too. Not too crazy about the sky though.
Onslaught
It looks good, one little, tiny thing are the road stripes. You can tell that it's placed on top like a hump rather than painted on.
skogskalle
mmkuy. the same pic with a new sky.... I will ofcourse use better AA levels on the final renders... I just dont have the patience to wait that extra time for my testrenders. I got the old sky from strat (thanks!). I was planning a short animation and I needed a map that would look good mapped on a hemisphere... but, its hard to make a flicker-free animation with vrayFree, and it wasnt anything my client demanded anyways... so Ill do a couple of stills instead. why do the windows on the upper floor look like crap compared to the ones on the first floor? they have the same material! I know they need stuff to reflect to look good, but I think the upper ones should atleast reflect the sky?! regards Kalle sorry for the small pic. if you need a bigger one to see whats goin on, Ill post one tomorrow. IC
I think this is looking good. Isn't the difference in the windows just that you can see right through the building on the first floor giving a feeling of space? The glass just needs a bit of bump. STRAT
those road markings have thickness looks nice, keep going. hey, love the sky and trees
skogskalle
thank you for your comments! well... no, the roadmarks dont have thickness, I just accidently put them 1 cm above the road... ill fix that! IC - youre probably right about the glass.... Ill try to add some bump. how do you usually do that? a big but not very strong noisemap? ...... heres another angle.... Ive got some mapping issues on the sidewalk but other than that Im starting to get happy with it.
Jason Matthews
On the last image you posted, adjust the bump of the siding. Have you tried ading a reflection map to the glass? Make a new material for the upper glass (copy the old one) and add a reflection map. Other then that, I think it looks nice. I would be happy if I were the client. Good job. -Jason
skogskalle
thanks saturn! when you say "the siding", do you mean the wooden side of the house? if so, thats not made with a bump, every plank is modeled. I agree, it looks weird on the image posted here, but it looks much better on bigger renderings. if you mean the sidewalk, then I know about the problem... its been fixed, but it still looks a bit funky. The Brick-map gives me problems... As for the glass, Ill give it a try. I just finished the final renderings, but Ill try it anyways to see how it looks. The glass already has a reflectionmap (vray map) but maybe you meant to use a bitmap instead? regards Kalle
