Pablo Zurita
Since the other thread got all confused with NPR and RPCs, I decided to start a new one. What do you people think about RPCs in realtime presentations where the client is supposed to move freely around a building. Basically I wouldn't use them at all with the exception of some plants or small trees, why? Because the client should be able to move freely and he may move in angles where you can see that the RPC is just a plane. And you can't just make the RPCs face the viewer all the time, it would look bad. I would go with normal models.
Richard McCarthy
Yeh RPC was not a good idea in realtime stuff, it isn't good even in offline rendering ... (problem with GI shadow.. or the lack of it) I would rather see a well animated 3D ppl maybe from metropoly collection of lowpolygon3d collection...
