A.Mitov
Hi, I need to match a photo with a 3d scene and I need some clarifications about the settings in the Vray camera. There is a field "film gate" which is basically the horizontal length of the sensor in digital cameras. Ok. Then there is a field "focal length". Let's suppose that I shoot the photo with Canon 60D with a lens set to 18 mm focal length. Are these the settings that I have to type in the Vray Camera?: film gate: 22.3 focal length: 18 I'm asking since I'm not sure if Vray automatically accounts for the 1.6 crop factor of the lens. I'm unsure if I should type 18 or 28.8 (18mm x 1.6 crop factor) in the focal length field? Thanks a lot in advance! Corey Beaulieu
From my experience, Vray does not account for cropping. It assumes everything to be an un-cropped image. Use the 28.8. Is 22.3 correct for your film gate?
Tommy L
Vray assumes camera to be full body, so yes, you'd need to use 28.8 Ive always found there's a fair amount of tweaking after getting the numbers in.
A.Mitov
Ok but if vray always assumes it is full frame camera, why is there a setting for film gate?
